Flextronics International is a global technology company, which designs, builds and ships complete packaged products for its OEM customers. thinkpeople Consulting Ltd were engaged to support Flextronics acquisition of the Nortel Design Centre in Belfast in 2004 and again in 2007 to facilitate the closure of the Design site.

In 2004 thinkpeople worked with the Flextronics team to manage the people side of the acquisition. The project involved the transfer of highly skilled technical staff from Nortel Nitec Design plant to Flextronics and included:

1.Pre-merger people due diligence
2.Management of the TUPE transfer
3.Postmerger integration of all people based aspects and HR strategy

In 2007 we again requested thinkpeople’s help to manage the closure of the design plant in Belfast. Flextronics’ merger with Solectron resulted in international consolidation, part of which meant that the future sustainability of operations at the Belfast site were no longer economically viable. The project involved managing the redundancy process associated with the site closure.
