Norbrook Laboratories – Culture Change and Management Development

The Need:

Norbrook Laboratories is a global pharmaceuticals company, recognised as a leader in in the development of revolutionary veterinary and animal health medicines. In support of next stage of growth and strategic direction, the culture of the organisation became a focal point. It was clear to the company that to embed the type of change needed in mindset, behaviours and skills it was essential to align managers, both senior and at a supervisory levels, to the strategic objectives, values and Norbrook approach. There needed to be a renewed focus on developing capability to build a ‘next generation’ employer identity focused equally on high performance and employee engagement.

Think People were selected to help assess and focus development on the areas that would deliver the change needed and then to build bespoke development programmes for two management levels, Senior Managers and Team Leaders.

The Advice:

Think People appointed a Project Owner to ensure the focus of the programme was right and worked in very close partnership with the HR Director and HRBP to finalise content, models and learning approach to ensure very targeted skills growth, behaviour change, increased confidence, engagement and employee retention.

Each workshop is evaluated and reviewed, with changes made as the group evolves and needs change. A close working relationships allows for ongoing assessment and feedback to ensure the programmes are as specific to group needs as possible and hence improved return on investment.

The project is being rolled out over 18 months. There are 9 cohorts of senior managers in a modular development programme with inbuilt practical actions and management coaching. A two day workshop was developed for Team Leaders which has been rolled out to 147 managers. Evaluation of the first element of the project is ongoing through an organisation survey.
